Me and my wife Fabienne - the woman of my dreams

In 2010 I left home to see the world
...nothing was as expected

I’d go on to witness the universal and paranormal, learn what mercy and true madness are, and experience destitution as well as divinity. It was to become the “coming of age” that I’d always yearned for, yet the more that I’d experience, the more alienated I’d become.

As my personal quest for meaning continued, I grew steadily more despondent. Then, in response to an act of total desperation, an extraordinary plot unfolded – one that offered me the chance to pursue my greatest aspirations. In an all-or-nothing “shoot for the moon”, I took that chance. With the successes that followed, came the first bit of clarity that I had so diligently been seeking all along.

From that leap of faith, this project would eventually take shape. The goal of Lost in Plain View is simple: to document the various aspects of my global journey as I expand upon my knowledge of the art of building.

However, the underlying motivation of this endeavor is anything but simple. The real purpose of this project is to offer a rare glimpse of the world as it truly is. In doing so, my dream is to help guide others in their own personal quest for meaning.

“There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle”

-Albert Einstein

Lost in Plain View: The Building of a Global Journey

The Global Journey

After a 10 Day Roman Spectacular, I will be further develop my craft in the Peloponnese, at the Re-Green EcoCulture of Seliana, Greece.

Afterwards, I’ll take another crash course in sustainable living as part of a grassroots agroforestry initiative within the Raja Ampat Marine Recreation Park in West Papua, Indonesia, on the island of Papua New Guinea – site of the most biodiverse marine ecosystem on Earth.

At the beginning of January 2023, I will land in Singapore, with a desire to stop by Sabah, Malaysia on my way towards the Near East, North Africa, South & MesoAmerica, and then finally through the Caribbean Sea (& Gulf of Mexico + Sea of Cortez) on my way back home to my family in Texas.

Here is where I’ll be putting all that I’ve learned – from Lake Michigan, the plains of Montana, the Great Southwest, New England, The Pacific Northwest and Southeast Alaskan Temperate Rainforest, the Yukon desert and Australian Outback bush, Southeast Asian, Caribbean, and Congolese Rainforests, the Swiss Alps, the Mediterranean Sea, the Hawaiian Islands, and even my personal favorite: Vatican City and the Eternal City of Rome.

Using this combination of experiences in order to raise a Timberframe Observation Tower, near SpaceX, along with what will one day be known as Citadel 36, not but a stone’s throw from the future Starbase, Texas.

However, in a perfect world, this would be my itinerary – broken up by region, from start to finish:

  1. Italy, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Egypt
  2. Spain, Morocco, Cape Verde
  3. Sao Tomé and Principe, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania
  4. Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar
  5. South Africa, Botswana, Namibia
  6. Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia
  7. Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Guyana
  8. Dominica, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba
  9. Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico
  10. French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand

…..and I’m always hopeful that a perfect world is never far from reach.

About Me

Originally from Round Rock, Texas, I’m a 34-year-old feller who learned every trick in the book from the notorious Grandpa Frank. I kicked around New England and Alaska a while before moving to Europe. Hawaii is my favorite place so far. I’m a writer, builder, former Alaskan park ranger and Australian geophysical surveyor. I lead a very charmed life, though it’s about as weird as they come.

My wife is my sunshine. Friends & family are my everything. Kombucha is also family.
